I started writing personality features for Vogue Spain when one of the writers did not show up for the job. My sister was the editor of the magazine and she was desperate, and so began my fascination with everyone's stories. My interviews included philanthropist Anthony Kennedy Shriver, music impresario Emilio Estefan, and international artist Michele Oka Doner. It was like drinking from a firehose, learning from others how to make a life worth living. And in the process, I fell in love with just being with the other.

In time,  the high-powered corporate roles which had occupied so many years of my life until then took over again.  And still today, I hold a senior position in a global consulting firm, helping leaders tell strategic stories to Boards, to Employees, to Clients.  I suppose my insatiable desire to learn from others, and to shine the light on their lessons,  is how I find joy in my daily work.

All these conversations are not too different from my studies at Harvard, where my research focused on cultural identity and semiotics—how meaning is created, not what it is.  Does place define us as some of us think?  And how do we make sense of the words and worlds that shape our memory and our present? Is the impact of our lives the things we do or the people we touch? These questions continue to fuel my passion for meeting people whose lives reflect the intersection of many paths travelled.
